COMMUNITY SUPPORTED AGRICULTURE

A sample weekly veggie bag 2016

WHAT IS A CSA?

Community supported agriculture, is a new model of food production designed to bring people and farmers closer together. By supporting your local farmer for a growing season you enable us to invest in seeds and plant crops early in the season, helping us provide organically grown food to local people like you!

WHAT WILL I GET?

Your harvest bag will be packed with a diversity of produce each week and changes as the season progresses based on what is ready for harvest on packing day. This allows for many interesting dishes and we also email your weekly recipies featuring the new additions in your bag!
We grow over 30 types of vegetables, from arugula to zucchini. Here is a list of expected produce for this season.

WHAT IS THE COST?

This year we are offering a one size membership that costs $400 for the season. There will be a 5% discount for those who pay in full at sign up before May 15, 2017. We also have an option of $200 downpayment at sign up, with the remaining $200 due the first week in July.

A LA CARTE
In advance of the pick up day, members will recieve an email with a list of produce they will be getting in their bag as well as an "A La Carte Menu" with extra produce available for purchase. This could range from extra lettuce or peas, forgaged produce like chantrelles or berries, to unusual items such as nettle, lambs quarters and chickweed. If you would like to add any of these additional items, we will need to know by Monday morning.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

In a CSA, members purchase an annual share of vegetables grown on our farm. In return for your commitment, each week we deliver a bag of our freshest seasonal produce to a drop spot in your area for 14 weeks typically between mid July to mid October.

By purchasing the shares in the farms annual production, famililes help cover the upfront costs of production for the farmers and guarantee a local market. In return not only do you recieve fresh delicious veggies, but also an understanding of where your food comes from and how it is grown.

WHY BE A MEMBER?

  • Put a face to your food.
  • Direct connection between your family and ours.
  • Expand your culinary horizons and eat with the season.
  • Try things you would not typically buy.
  • Support local economy.
  • Food miles reduced and you contribute to regional food security and farmland preservation.

We welcome members to visit the farm and see how  we grow your food!
